Libya and Greece are two pivotal states in the Mediterranean, two countries with shared common prospects for the future. The recent visit by the Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis and the Foreign Minister Nikos Dendias to Tripoli is a crucial development not only in bilateral ties, but also for greater regional stability. The official visit at the highest level marks the will of the two countries to establish a framework of effective cooperation in all fields. The Greek leadership met with Prime Minister of the Government of National Unity (GNU), Abd Alhamid Aldabaiba. ....

Italian prime minister Draghi: Italy to contribute to the reconstruction of Libya

Italian prime minister Mario Draghi said Italy wishes to contribute to Libya’s reconstruction.
The statement came yesterday at Draghi’s joint press conference in Tripoli with Libyan prime minister Abd Alhamid Aldabaiba. This was Draghi’s first visit to Libya and his first overseas trip since taking over office in February.
Aldabaiba affirmed Libya’ interest in strengthening strategic cooperation with Italy adding that Italy is one of the few countries whose embassy continued to operate from inside Tripoli through Libya’s troubles.
He said Italy shows special interest in the stability of Libya and that Libya appreciates this adding that Libya looked forward to the reopening of Italian airspace to Libyan aviation, and resuming flights between the two countries. ....

The eastern based Libyan government led by Abdalla Thinni announced today that it too is ready to hand over power to the new unified Libyan Government of National Unity (GNU) headed by Abd Alhamid Aldabaiba.
The announcement came after the reunified and quorate House of Representatives (HoR) passed a vote of confidence in the Aldabaiba GNU. It also came as the Serraj-led Presidency Council and Government of National Accord said it was ready to hand over power to the GNU. ....
