Maximizing Police Presence from the charter and add it to the posting. Can we hear from the next speaker . Hi, im a resident of district 5. Im calling in like everyone else to support the amendment to remove the minimum staffing requirements for the sfpd. I also support removal of any language requiring maxization of Police Presence in our community. I just wanted to say that im also extremely disturbed by the idea that sfpd management would come up with a proposal ive been calling into the Police Commission meeting for the last couple of weeks and im disgusted and ashamed of the amount of political posturing with no accountability or responsibility. Id like to remind all of my Community Members who are sfpd is one of the racist and Brutal Police forces in the nation and has been investigated by the department of justices at the federal and state level. They have just been netanyahu. Fire department hi, im calling to support inaudible on the stands that the language should be taken off
Thank you. Thank you for your comments. Next speaker, please. Hi, my name is alex and im a member of the dsa and resident of the district 10. However the 1,000 walking into the charter was at 94 Ballot Initiatives and the San Francisco Republican Party and the violence crimes is down to low levels nation wide, state wide and San Francisco where last year we had a 58 year low in homicides. The charter language is outdat outdated. And in the ballot guides, public defender jeff brown warned the staffing number will quote takeaway general fund money for Critical Services like health, Drug Prevention and youth facilities and that has come true. Thank you president yee for introducing this amendment eliminating that next speaker, please. Hello h. Is sean cochran from district one in San Francisco. Were praying for the recovery of vicky gardener. Sometimes, the pressures of life will get to you. Reporter earlier, virgel barker says hes known him since he was a baby and saw no signs of what he would do. Very quiet. Educated. I never seen it coming. Reporter parker grew up in this house, attending skyline high school. A school mate told us he was a popular, out going student, named to the Home Coming Court in 1989. Chris dobb was senior class president when flanagan was a junior. That is unbelievable. He was hapy person, our prom king. And at the time everybody loved him. Reporter after graduating from skyline, he went to San Francisco state and then to kpix. Most recently, working under the name Bryce Williams in roanoke, virginia. Tragedy. Just sad. Sad. I mean, i saw the brief video clips of it. And what happened is just mind blowing. Now, flanagans father lives here in vallejo. Vester flanagan senior played for the Green Bay Packers under vince lombardi. He lives here and a sis
Flanagan ii. He killed a reporter and camera man live on the air in virginia today, and hes from the bay area. Flanagan cited the Church Shootings in South Carolina as one motivation for actions today. He described himself as a powder keg, ready to explode. And that is apparently what happened this morning when a reporter and photographer he used to work with were conducting a live interview. This is as much of the video we feel comfortable showing. He is described as a 41yearold disgruntled employee of the station. He shot himself after the pursuit and died a few hours later. Laura anthony is live with reaction from his family. Laura, lets start with you. Reporter that is right, dan. Flanagan lived and worked on the east coast, but he grew up in oakland and still has family here in vallejo. We heard from a very somber family spokesperson. Our thoughts and prayers at this time are with the victims families and Wdbj Television station family. Reporter a spokesperson for the family read
I think heather might have more to say about this than i do. But i would just say that i think that this figure you sometimes see of, you know, vast numbers of jobs that are unfilled, its not because of a lack of skills, not entirely. A lot of it is just employers too damn cheap to pay the wages that would attract the workers that they want and say that they need. So i think that we shouldnt focus were leaving this now to go live to indianapolis where President Trump is going to talk more about the republican tax reform plan released today. Thank you very much. You just want massive tax cuts. Thats what you want. Thats the only reason youre going so wild. But its wonderful to be back in the great state of indiana. What a place. I want to thank senator todd young, senator joe donnelly, representative jackie would lar ski, representative susan brooks, and representative mike messer for joining us today. Thank you very much. Thank you very much for being here. Appreciate it. I also want t
