its august jobs report later this morning. the data will come on the heels of a new white house project ekz that does not point to much improvement in the unemployment rate any time soon. tracie potts joins us from washington with more on this. tracie, good morning. lynn, good morning. good morning, everyone. that new white house projection says that our unemployment rate in the states will probably hover around 9%, 9.1% all of this year and all of next year as well. later this morning we ll see if that was the case last month as the new unemployment rate comes out for august. analysts don t expect to see much change, even though the weekly jobless figures are down, and that s certainly good news. all of this comes less than a week before president obama is expected to roll out his new jobs plan, and he is increasingly under pressure even from democrats who say he has been compromising too much. what they want to see is a fresh new plan that the president thinks will ....
we begin tonight with breaking news from montgomery county. two pedestrians were injured in a hit and run crash in wheaton. chopper 4 was over the scene on veras mill road just a few minutes ago. no one was in the vehicle. we have heard both pedestrians have serious injuries. a double stabbing in fairfax county in virginia. it happened outside an apartment building on oakland and burke. it appears the argument was within one family. good evening. i m jim vance. and i m doreen gentzler. now to the devastation in joplin, missouri where a tornado at 200 miles an hour ripped through town. tonight the death toll is still rising to at least 116, making this the deadliest single u.s. tornado in more than 50 years. the search for survivors will again continue long into this night. meanwhile, mother nature isn t letting up as more severe weather is moving in and all the destruction there now has hospitals here in washington double-checking emergency plans. tornado warnings ....
