we begin with a traj ig situation in northeast washington. two people critically hurt in a fire and their rowhouse gutted. on maryland avenue they are trying to determine what happened. derrick? reporter: well, indeed they are. take a look behind me. we re in the 700 block of maryland avenue in northeast. you can see the obvious signs of the fire that raced through this house early this morning. take a look. a neighbor called 911 alerted by the smoke and flames. firefighters arrived at the 700 block of maryland avenue northeast at about 5:00 in the morning. they found the flames had already begun to consume the capitol hill rowhouse from within. found a rowhome with fire in the basement and first and second floor and through the roof. reporter: there was three people in the house. one in the bext and two on the first floor, the moef seriously in inhalation injuries. two transported in critical condition. one was in minor condition. reporter: two firefighters also su
