Johnson County Year-in-Review 2020: September-December – Sheridan Media


Today we will continue our look back at Johnson County’s top stories during the last year as we focus on September through December of 2020.
Johnson County’s Shoreline Regulations concerning Lake DeSmet began review and discussion in September as requested by the county commissioners, who have been contacted by landowners wanting to make changes to their properties adjacent to the shoreline but are not allowed to do so under the regulations. Those discussions are ongoing.
There was an attempted kidnapping in Buffalo in September. According to Johnson County Code Red, an attempt was made to kidnap a 12 year-old female by a white male in a newer pickup with no known license plate. No arrests have been made to date in the case. ....

BHS Entrepreneurs Awarded Funds in Start-Up Challenge – Sheridan Media


Five Buffalo High School student entrepreneurs gave presentations on their business ideas to a panel of judges compiled by IMPACT 307 for a chance to win funding to make their ideas a reality.
The inaugural Buffalo High School Start-Up Challenge was held on Wednesday, and the five students and their ideas were: Sam Hulick with N.E.W. Bricks: Chase Wellington with Hell Hound Forge; Caydence Engling with Purpose Planner; Katelyn Sutton with Breezy Bookings; and Aaron Dyess with Car Meets Now.
According to a release from Scot Rendall with IMPACT 307, all five did an outstanding job of creating and preparing a professional presentation. ....

BHS Students Compete for IMPACT 307 Seed Funding – Sheridan Media


One of five Buffalo High School students will earn seed funding for their entrepreneurial idea when they present their business plans today at the BHS Auditorium.
IMPACT 307, Sheridan’s business incubator, has put up $2,500 in seed capital, along with an additional $2,500 donated by ANB Bank, Bank of Buffalo, Buffalo Par & Grill, First Northern Bank, and Re-Ride, that will be awarded to the winner.
The students all belong to Kami Kennedy’s Advanced Entrepreneurial Class.
She explains more about how the students became involved in the
challenge.
