Start-up Challenge At Buffalo High School Fosters Entrepreneurship At A Young Age

5:11 Buffalo High School sophomore Caydence Engling said growing up, she thought she wanted to be a doctor because she likes to help people. Then ever since I started taking business classes, I just came to the conclusion that I want to be able to own my own business and kind of do my own thing, Engling said. That business class was with her teacher Kami Kennedy. Kennedy, a business owner herself, also advises the Future Business Leaders of America chapter at Buffalo. My whole goal is that they re going to be able to accomplish and continue to grow and develop businesses, but I think they ll be like 15 years ahead of where I was starting. So, I think that just gives them that opportunity because I really believe that entrepreneurship is experience, Kennedy said.

UW Receives $2 4M CARES Act Grant to Support Entrepreneurs – Sheridan Media

Services and support for entrepreneurs across Wyoming will be expanded as a result of a $2.4 million CARES Act Recovery assistance grant to the University of Wyoming from the U.S. Department of Commerce’s Economic Development Administration.  The grant, to be matched with $600,000 in local investment, is expected to create 368 jobs and generate $1 million in private investment. “Supporting local strategies designed to create stronger and more resilient economies in response to the coronavirus pandemic is a top priority for EDA,” Dennis Alvord, acting assistant secretary of commerce for economic development said. “This project will broaden the University of Wyoming’s IMPACT 307 business incubator program to serve statewide clients through a hybrid virtual and in-person startup launch and entrepreneurial support structure.”

High School Students Compete In Entrepreneur Challenge

Credit Impact 307 The University of Wyoming s business incubator in Sheridan, Impact 307, has been hosting entrepreneurial competitions since 2018. Now, it s hosting a competition for high school students in Buffalo. The incubator s Director Scott Rendall said that, since 2018, a few high school students in Buffalo have applied to the competition. So, he worked with the Buffalo High School business teacher to make a serious competition for them. If they win, they have to register with the Secretary of State as a business, and they have to do a couple of other requirements in order for us to be able to release funds from the university holding pool to be able to fund the people that win the challenge, he said.
