Man shoots wife, kills himself after family dispute

SUKKUR: A man shot dead his wife and later himself over a domestic dispute with his wife in Katchi Abadi near Had Jamrao Road, district Sanghar.Reports said Samina, w/o Aamir Bhatti, a serving soldier, went to the local police station to register a complaint against her husband after a quarrel over a domestic issue. Upon her arrival from the police station, the husband allegedly shot his wife dead and later he shot himself dead. The police shifted the bodies to a local hospital for medico-legal formalities, saying that the couple left a two-year-old girl, Ana Bibi, behind.

Munir Bhatti, a director at Isaac TV, told DW that he started the channel 15 years ago to ensure that Pakistani Christians learn about their faith. Most Christians in Pakistan do not practice religion. We launched the channel to bring the Christ s teachings closer to them, Bhatti said.
Bhatti said his channel has viewers not only in Pakistan but also in other countries.
Most of the content on these channels is apolitical. Jawaid Noor, a Karachi-based gospel singer, says that Christians want to listen to sermons, hymns and the message of the Christ, and that these things can t be telecast on the mainstream Pakistani media.

Earlier, Archbishop of Karachi Joseph Cardinal Coutts had held a personal meeting with members of the clergy at the St Patrick’s Cathedral here to discuss their plan of action during Christmas. He said that in view of the permission to celebrate Christmas given by the government despite its concerns provided they follow all standard operating procedures (SOPs), the churches would also be extra careful and strict in taking all kinds of precautions.
