It was a long, draining, grueling day of volleyball for the Jefferson City Lady Jays. What mattered most was it ended with everyone smiling. Jefferson City tied its best state finish in program history Thursday, defeating the St. Michael the Archangel Guardians 23-25, 25-18, 25-18, 25-19 in the Class 4 third-place match at the Show Me Center.

Lady Jays find extra gear in volleyball win vs. Camdenton

The Jefferson City Lady Jays turned it on when they needed it Wednesday night at Fleming Fieldhouse. The No. 2 seed Lady Jays sputtered in the third set of the Class 4 District 5 first-round matchup against the No. 7 seed Camdenton Lady Lakers, but they closed out the match with a huge run in the fourth set to pick up a 25-15, 25-21, 17-25, 25-12 victory.

Jefferson City volleyball tops Fatima to continue recent surge

The Jefferson City Lady Jays are starting to hit their stride after an up-and-down start to the season. Coming off a big win Tuesday against Blair Oaks, the Lady Jays continued their hot stretch with a 25-10, 25-12, 25-16 victory Thursday against the Fatima Lady Comets at Fleming Fieldhouse to pick up their sixth win in the past eight contests.

Jefferson City girls hustle their way past Aquinas

The Jefferson City Lady Jays knew they would need to win the 50/50 balls Friday night if they were going to knock off the six-time defending Kansas 5A state champion Saint Thomas Aquinas Saints. That’s exactly what the Lady Jays did down the stretch, as they outhustled the Saints to pick up a 55-51 victory at Fleming Fieldhouse.
