ZAMBOANGA CITY - Authorities have arrested 10 persons and seized about PHP415,128 worth of illegal drugs in separate anti-drug operations during the week here in Zamboanga Peninsula, police officials said. The biggest illegal drug haul, worth PHP204,000, led to the arrest of two suspected big-time drug pushers in this city. Col. Alexander Lorenzo, Zamboanga City Police Office director, said the two suspects, Vincent Thelmo, 31, and Leo Eijansantos, 29, were arrested in a buy-bust operation at a motel in Barangay Sta. Maria, this city on Tuesday. Lorenzo said seized from the two suspects were about 30 grams of suspected shabu with an estimated street value of PHP204,000, a motorcycle, 14 PHP1,000 counterfeit bills used as boodle money topped with one genuine PHP500 marked money, two sling bags, and a cellular phone. ZAMBOANGA CITY - A rookie police officer was arrested in an anti-drug operation here, police officials said Tuesday. Brig. Gen. Franco Simborio, Police Regional Office-Zamboanga Peninsula (PRO-9) director, said Patrolman Carl Anthony Burgas Tabo-Tabo was caught in a buy-bust around 11:33 p.m. Monday in Barangay San Jose Gusu. Tabo-Tabo, 26, of Ipil, Zamboanga Sibugay, is temporarily assigned with the Zamboanga City Police Office's (ZCPO) Station 11. He was provisionally assigned with ZCPO Station 11 as he is still undergoing the Field Training Program, a requirement before completion of the Public Safety Basic Recruit Course. Maj. Francis Briones, newly-installed ZCPO Station 11 chief, said Tabo-Tabo was placed under surveillance after the latter's alleged involvement in the illegal drug trade. LEGAZPI CITY - A police intelligence officer died when his service pistol reportedly accidentally fell and went off while preparing his uniform and paraphernalia at his residence in Mobo, Masbate province Thursday night. The police officer was identified as Lt. Col. Steve dela Rosa, Police Intelligence Unit (PIU) chief of the Masbate police provincial office, according to Maj. Maria Luisa Calubaquib, spokesperson of the Police Regional Office (PRO) 5 (Bicol), in a report on Friday.
