MANILA - The country's daily average of coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) cases went up by 53 percent from June 20 to 26, the Department of Health (DOH) reported Monday. From 436 per day from June 13 to 19, the number of Covid-19 cases reached 662 daily from June 20 to 26. The latest case bulletin showed that there were 4,634 new cases and 51 verified deaths in the recent week. For the same period, 14 cases were added to the tally of severe and critical infections, which went up to 591 from the previous week's 554. Only 14.9 percent or 391 out of the 2,628 intensive care unit (ICU) beds are in use, while 18.1 percent or 4,034 of 22,251 non-ICU beds are utilized. To date, about 70,358,612 million or 78.17 percent of the country's target population (90,005,357) are vaccinated against Covid-19, including 77.48 percent of 8,721,357 senior citizens. From 340 per day from June 6 to 12, the number of Covid-19 cases reached 436 daily from June 13 to 19. The latest case bulletin showed that there were 3,051 new cases in the recent week and six verified deaths. For the same period, 15 cases were added to the tally of severe and critical infections, which went up to 554 from the previous week's 498. Only 14.6 percent or 385 out of the 2,636 intensive care unit (ICU) beds are in use, while 18.2 percent or 4,033 of 22,156 non-ICU beds are utilized. Health Undersecretary Maria Rosario Vergeire said the number of Covid-19 infections continue to rise nationwide but assured that there is no surge in cases. From 185 per day on May 30 to June 5, Covid-19 cases reached 340 daily from June 6 to 12. The latest case bulletin of the DOH showed there were 1,682 new cases in the recent week and five verified deaths. However, alert levels are unchanged, including Level 1 in Metro Manila, as cases are manageable and health care utilization remains normal. For the same period, eight cases were added to the tally of severe and critical infections, which went down to 498 from the previous week's 599. Only 16.6 percent or 345 out of the 2,078 intensive care unit (ICU) beds are in use, while 20.3 percent or 3,189 of 15,706 non-ICU beds are utilized.
