The FTSE managed to gain ground on Friday, adding 5 points to 7,069. The FTSE 250 gained 30 points, 0.1%, to 22,833.
Across the pond, the Dow was up 101 points, 0.3%, to 34,678 at midday in New York. The Nasdaq improved 182 points, 1.3%, to 13,797, and the S&P 500 added 27 points, 0.7%, to 4,220.
