New Covid-19 cases dip to 951, lowest for this year

The figure is slightly higher than the 899 infections reported on Dec. 29, 2021 the last time the country saw three-digit daily new cases. It pushed the overall tally of confirmed infections to 3,661,997. The active cases went down 52,179 after 1,717 new recoveries were logged. About 528 of the active cases are asymptomatic, 47,157 are mild, 2,779 are moderate, 1,417 are severe and 298 are critical. Meantime, the total recovered cases increased to 3,553,367. "Of the 951 reported cases today, 895 (94 percent) occurred within the recent 14 days, February 15 to 28, 2022," the DOH reported. In its Covid-19 bulletin, the Department of Health (DOH) said the new cases brought the active case tally to 39,974 out of a total of 2,871,745 confirmed infections since the start of the pandemic. Wednesday's fresh cases are almost double from Tuesday's 5,434 new cases. The DOH also reported 605 new recoveries, raising the tally to 2,780,109 or 96.8 percent of the total case count. Out of the active cases, 33,866 are mild, 3,020 are moderate, 1,294 are asymptomatic, 319 are critical, and 1,512 are severe. In its latest case bulletin, the Department of Health (DOH) noted the figure brought the total number of active infections to 10,418. Of the active cases, 4,384 are mild, 536 are asymptomatic, 374 are critical, 1,778 are severe, and 3,346 are moderate. "Of the 889 reported cases today, 869 or 98 percent occurred within the recent 14 days - December 16 to 29, 2021," the DOH said.
