the bottom line is what is the rush on this. this is about safety and safety should not be rushed. we re not sure why this deadline is being maintained. this new rule comes on the heels of a report last week by the transportation department i.g. that found the f.a.a. has no plans to address staffing challenges among air traffic controllers which could lead to more cancellations and delays again just on its own. combined with the 5g roll-out, it lays the ground work for what could be some difficult flying times, at least the next few months or through the end of the year. the hope is that by the end of the year, this 5g issue will be resolved. all of the planes will be upgraded. but until then, if there s bad weather, buckle up, my friends. neil? neil: this is a dumb quick question, garrett. can t they disable the 5g if it s going to make or break a lift off? in other words, yeah, it s a pain in the neck not to have

the trade association for the main mobile network operators, and i asked why the 5g roll out wasn t further ahead after all this time. well, in that three years, we ve had covid, which did impact on our ability to deploy that network. equally, the government has taken decisions to take certain vendors out of the market, which has meant we ve actually had to reconfigure networks, look for new vendors. and the government s own research suggested that cost an additional two billion and added a year to our deployment schedules. this centre at the university of surrey started working on 5g ten years ago. this is the team s message to people frustrated with 5g. just be patient, because there are very interesting applications that s coming up. they re all gradually become 56 compliant, all of these systems, and then we will see a huge amount of coverage. i m not very good at driving this thing. they ve been using this robot to demonstrate the difference in latency between 4 and 5g.
