Zambo Peninsula logs over 94% Covid-19 recovery rate

(File photo) ZAMBOANGA CITY - The Department of Health-Zamboanga Peninsula (DOH-9) on Tuesday reported 56,256 Covid-19 recoveries or 94.49 percent recovery rate since the start of the pandemic in March 2020. Dr. Jemuel Cristobal, DOH-9 medical officer, said the region has so far recorded a total of 59,533 Covid-19 infections, including 840 active cases and 2,437 deaths. Cristobal said 68.2 percent of the active cases are asymptomatic, 26.1 percent with mild symptoms, 4.4 percent moderate, 1.2 percent severe, and 0.1 percent critical. He said the data showed Zamboanga City has the highest recovered cases of 26,349 although it remains on top of the list with the most number of Covid-19 infections of 27,928. The city has also the highest mortality rate with 1,084 and has 495 active cases. PH logs 838 Covid-19 cases, lowest daily count for 2021

MANILA - The Department of Health (DOH) on Sunday logged 838 new Covid-19 cases, the lowest single-day case count for 2021. In its daily Covid-19 bulletin, the DOH also reported 1,217 new recoveries that reduced the country's active cases to just 16,630 or a mere 0.6 percent of total infections since March last year. Of the active cases, 47.8 percent are listed as mild, 7.1 percent asymptomatic, 6.5 percent critical, 15.2 percent severe, and 23.36 percent moderate. The new infections increased the country's total cases to 2,831,807, including the 2,766,816 who recovered from the dreaded disease. Meanwhile, the death toll rose to 48,361 with 156 new fatalities. MANILA - The Department of Health (DOH) on Friday logged 2,109 recoveries and 2,376 new cases of the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19). In its daily Covid-19 bulletin, the health department said the active case tally slightly dropped to 37,377 compared to 38,014 on Wednesday and 40,786 on Tuesday, with 69 percent listed as mild, 5.4 percent asymptomatic, 3.5 percent critical, 8.2 percent severe, and 13.94 percent moderate. The overall recovery tally rose to 2,716,524, or 97.1 percent of the total confirmed infections of 2,797,986. The total death toll, meanwhile, increased to 44,085 with 260 new deaths. Zambo City to hire more personnel for Covid-19 response

Zamboanga City Hall(PNA file photo) ZAMBOANGA CITY - The city government is hiring an additional 165 personnel to fill in the vacancies for its coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) response program. Mayor Maria Isabelle Climaco-Salazar said Wednesday the hiring of workers forms part of the city government's effort to help public and private hospitals that are overburdened by the surge in Covid-19 cases in the city. Salazar said the city is in urgent need of 12 medical officers, 46 nurses, 13 medical technologists, and 94 job order workers for a total of 165 personnel. "Additional personnel will be hired in light of the increasing Covid-19 cases that resulted to lack of manpower in hospitals and isolation facilities," she said.
