Catastrophic threat, and these are the knives that tsa says will now be allowed. they are knives with blades that are no longer than 2.36 inches and they are also knives that do not lock in place. so that s why the change now. who has a problem with it? well, for one, senator chuck schumer of new york. add news conference today urging the tsa to change its mind. he said if it didn t, he might try to make them. if the tsa refuses to go along we would consider legislation and my guess is it would be large bipartisan support. i don t know anybody who has defended the tsa on this on the merits because it just doesn t make any sense. now, there is more opposition, not just lawmakers. look at this petition on white house.gov. this was put up the day this policy announced. it s being pushed by unions representing flight attendants. it s a petition opposing a new knife policy and so far, as you can see there, it has more than 18,000 signatures. flight attendants, don, are ....

The blade can t be more than 2.36 inches long. don t know why they chose that number. 2.36 inches long and can t be more than a half inch thick at its widest point. i m not sure if that s a half inch, even though the blade might be short enough, it also locks so you can t take that despite the length. locking blade and molded grip, all out of the question. cannot do that. there are a couple of things still that you can t be free from. ready, these are not mine just for the record. you know when you have to take your shoes off, you still have to and still have to put your belt in the bin and you still can t bring these little guys, your shampoo and little thing of hairspray if it s not this, travel size, liquids are still out of the question. kind of frustrating for a lot of people because this is what we ve been hassled with a lot as well and still no go. there are a couple of other things that might surprise you. you can t bring these things on ....

This rule was announced yesterday but it takes effect on april 25th. the rules can be a little bit confusing, so i want to break this down. the allowed small knives, think of the swiss army length, smaller than 2.36 inches in length. less than a half inch in width. what s not allowed, knives that are longer than 2.36 inches. bigger than a half inch in width and have a fixed blade or locking blade, a box cutter or what have you. again, to kind of put that in real terms, i have a few examples. this one right here, not allowed. it s a box cutter, has a razor blade and molded handle locks into place. not allowed. also not allowed a typical type of leatherman s knife. reasons why as you mentioned, this would align the u.s. with the international rules but also ....
