PH logs lowest new number of Covid-19 cases in over 2 months

MANILA - The Department of Health on Wednesday reported 7,181 new Covid-19 cases, the lowest since August 4. In its latest case bulletin, the agency said the figure pushed the number of active cases to 82,411 and the overall tally to 2,690,455. Of the active cases, about 75.3 percent are mild, 12.1 percent are asymptomatic, 1.6 percent are critical, 3.7 percent are severe, and 7.25 percent are moderate. The DOH also reported 6,889 new recoveries, bringing the country's total number of recovered cases to 2,690,455. Meanwhile, the death toll reached 40,069 after 173 new deaths were recorded. According to DOH data on Oct. 11, about 14.2 percent of 40,323 who were tested turned out positive for Covid-19. "About 98 duplicates were removed from the total case count, and of these, 61 are recoveries," it added.
