Scientists say our oceans have hit their hottest recorded temperature largely because of Climate Change, with alarming implications for the planet. This week the average daily global Sea Surface Temperature hit almost 21 degrees celsius. Thats far above the average for the time of year and it beats the previous record set in 2016. The oceans are a vital regulator of the earths climate. Heres our climate editor, justin rowlatt. Theyve been taking measurements of Ocean Temperatures here in plymouth for more than a century. And for the last 50 or so years, theyve shown a slow but steady increase up about a third of a degree a decade. Have we got a reading for today yet, do you know . Good afternoon. The foreign secretary lord cameron has demanded a full explanation from israel, after an air strike in gaza that left seven aid workers dead, some of them british. The charity they worked for says their convoy was hit by an israeli air strike just after theyd unloaded food aid at a warehouse in the city of deir al balah. The israeli Prime Minister hasjust described it as an unintentional strike. Israel says it is investigating. From jerusalem, our middle east correspondent Yolande Knell reports. There were no survivors. Cars and aid convoy were hit directly. Even with the World Central Kitchen logos clearly displayed, and, the us charity says, prior Co Ordination with the israeli military.
