The union representing thousands of Connecticut nursing home workers poised to strike said Wednesday it’s “hopeful” that contract agreements can be made, but said Gov. Ned Lamont and the General Assembly need to find more money to address the long-standing problem of low wages in these long-term care facilities. ....

SOUTHINGTON — The town has settled a lawsuit over a fatal drunk driving crash but hasn’t released details of the settlement approved by the Town Council.
The lawsuit against Southington police officer Matthew Vose has been in court for years following the crash in 2015.
On the advice of attorneys working for the town’s insurance company, the council voted unanimously in favor of the settlement on April 26. Details of the settlement weren’t discussed during the council vote.
Town Manager Mark Sciota and Town Attorney Jeremy Taylor said this week that they didn’t have a copy of the settlement and referred questions to attorney Dennis Durao of Karsten & Tallberg LLC. The firm is representing the town, police chief Jack Daly and Vose, who were all named in the ....

As walk-in appointments become more available at many locations statewide, people may no longer get their second vaccine dose at the same place as the first.
But they do need to make sure they get the same brand and understand when to get that second shot, health officials said.
Proper spacing between COVID-19 vaccine doses is critical for achieving the maximum protection against the virus, health care experts said. The Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine requires a second dose after three weeks and the Moderna vaccine requires four weeks. ....
