Cadillac
The Cadillac CT5-V might have disappointed some when it made its debut two years ago. Donning a V-badge and absent a supercharged V8, many didn’t see how the car would replace the over-the-top CTS-V in their driveway. And yet now, with the Cadillac CT5-V Blackwing finally available, the standard CT5-V starts to shine as a legitimate V-Sport replacement. It uses a turbocharged 3.0-liter V6 to make 360 hp and 405 lb-ft of torque, and that V6 is mated to a 10-speed automatic which feeds either the rear wheels or an all-wheel-drive system. An electronic limited-slip diff at the rear helps manage traction, and the magnetic ride control works to keep the tires on the pavement.

The 2021 Mazda CX-30 2.5 Turbo Could Be the Hot Hatch Replacement Autoweek 2/17/2021 © Mazda The future of hot hatchbacks might be on stilts.
The crossover trend is far from over, and Mazda is looking to capitalize. The Mazda CX-30 splits the difference between the tiny Mazda CX-3 and the larger CX-5, which makes it about the same size as Mazda’s beloved Mazda 3. With declining small car sales and surging demand for compact crossovers, the 2021 CX-30 seems expertly placed to grab the consumer who might be interested in a traditional hatchback but is lured by the higher seating position offered by a compact ute a formula other automakers could emulate.
FROM THE EDITOR’S DESK
The news that racing executive Beth Paretta is going to take a run at the 2021 Indy 500 with a women-led team brings a sense of déjà vu: Indeed Paretta has done this before. She previously headed Grace Autosport, attempting to qualify Katherine Legge for the 2016 Indianapolis 500. Paretta pulled the plug just a few weeks before the green flag that year. We got a hold of Paretta to find out how the 2021 Paretta Autosport effort came about and why this time things are going to be different.
For one thing, the group plans to have 2010 Indianapolis 500 Rookie of the Year Simona De Silvestro drive the team’s Chevrolet-powered car this year. Also, this time none other than Roger Penske is involved.
