The history of CF Sherway Gardens in Toronto One of Toronto s oldest malls, Sherway Gardens, celebrates 50 years this year. Sherway Gardens, located in Etobicoke, was built just one year after the city s oldest multi-level mall, the CF Fairview Mall. The land Sherway Gardens now occupies was once a farm, owned by Sheridan Nurseries since 1938, according to CF Sherway Gardens. The property was sold to Sherway Centre Limited in 1964. The Sherway Gardens site was once farmland.  Photo via Toronto Archives Plans for the mall were in the works since the 1960s and the mall finally opened its doors on February 24, 1971. It was originally an S-shape layout at 850,000 square feet with 127 stores. In 1975 it changed to a figure-eight design to add 75 new retail spaces. The mall is now 1,280,000 square feet.

He received a phone call from a detective with Santa’s Nice until Proven Naughty Department letting us know that Santa would love to join the CCBDD for the party. We would like to give a special thank you to Mike Daugherty for transporting the guest of honor out to the Nike Center for the event, and Bob Wilson for arranging the transportation.

Students, staff in Youngstown participate in Christmas fun Dec 19, 2020 YOUNGSTOWN Pandemic or not, it’s the most wonderful time of the year and Youngstown City School District makes sure to celebrate with students and staff, even at a distance. Paul C. Bunn Elementary launched a holiday music video contest. Students and staff were asked to record videos of themselves performing a holiday song singing, dancing or playing a musical instrument and email them to Principal William Baun. The school’s culture and climate team is picking the winners, and Baun will announce them Monday. Prizes will be awarded to winners as well as participants. The school also asked students this week to show their holiday spirit with a different theme each day.
