The gang has targeted 50 shops in Karnataka, Rajasthan, Delhi and the National Capital Region (NCR), the police said. The four gang members were arrested by a joint team of Sahibabad and Loni police from the Karangate police outpost roundabout at Loni road. The police team was led by Station House Officer, Sahibabad, Vishnu Kaushik, they said. The woman member of the gang was taking stolen jewellery to goldsmiths who regularly bought it from her, they added. ....

NEW DELHI: A new analysis of the winter pollution levels in Delhi-NCR says that while the seasonal average was higher than the previous winter s, the severity and duration of smog episodes were lower. Stations in north and east Delhi recorded the highest PM2.5 levels. The analysis, by Centre for Science and Environment (CSE), has considered Central Pollution Control Board s real-time air quality data, stubble fire data from System of Air Quality and Weather Forecasting and Research, and weather data from the Palam station of India Meteorological Department. The number of days with severe and very poor levels of PM2.5 concentration has been comparatively lower this winter but the number of days in the poor category has increased, it says. While the overall city average at 186 micrograms per cubic metre has been 7% higher than the 2019-20 winter, the seasonal peak has been about 8% lower. ....
Ghaziabad: A Pocso court has sentenced a man to five years in jail for molesting a 10-year-old girl in Loni area in 2018. The court on Wednesday also imposed a fine of Rs 55,000 on the 55-year-old man and 75% of the amount will be given to the child’s family. Special judge (Pocso court II) Ravindra Prasad Gupta found Subhash Chandra Dagar guilty under Pocso Act and Section 354 (outraging modesty) of the IPC.Special public prosecutor (Pocso Act) Sanjeev Bakharva said that the girl’s brother had lodged a complaint against their neighbour who allegedly harassed the child. He also alleged that the man would make obscene gestures at the girl. “The complainant said that the child had told the family that Dagar had called her to a room one day. On July 9, 2018, the girl’s brother said, he saw Dagar trying to catch hold of the child’s hand. He made a video of the incident as well,” Bakharva said. ....
