Arbitrary parking charges demanded by private companies in various parts of the provincial capital have drawn the ire of the citizens.
In some areas, contractors are fleecing citizens by charging double the amount notified by the government, resulting in altercations as well as several lawsuits.
According to a notification issued by the district authorities, the official fee for parking a motorcycle at a stand is Rs10, while the fee for parking a car is Rs30.
LDA acts against illegal commercialisation
Development authority sealed a private college and girls’ hostel
LAHORE:
Lahore Development Authority (LDA) has sealed several buildings over unauthorised commercialisation and demolished illegal structures in private housing societies in different areas of the metropolis.
On direction of LDA Director General (DG) Ahmad Aziz Tarar, the officials of the Town Planning Wing V conducted an operation on Defence Road, Raiwind Road, private housing colonies Sultan Courts, Sultan Town and Westwood Colony.
The LDA officials sealed three buildings in Chinar Courts over illegal commercialisation.
The authority also sealed a private college and girls’ hostel for the same reason. The LDA staff sealed another tile store and offices established on plot no 1-15.
