Readers got a lesson in internet guile with the story about the vaccination slots at a Mohawk Trail Regional School clinic that immediately disappeared, scarfed up by a bot. Picture Pac-Man, eating up all those precious appointments.
A bot short for robot and also called an internet bot is a computer program that simulates a human activity, like “chatting” with you about an item you are thinking about buying online. (No, that’s not some kindly person on the other end of that chat box.) There are good bots, bad bots and everything in-between. BERNARDSTON Three Vermonters face charges following their arrests while traveling on Interstate 91 early Monday morning with suspected narcotics in the vehicle they were in.
Benjamin Kendall, 31, of Vershire, Vt., Brooke Rowell, 37, of Concord, Vt., and Jesse Pease, 39, of West Fairlee, Vt., were stopped by Massachusetts State Police while going 88 mph in a 65 mph zone in a Chevrolet Silverado at roughly 1 a.m.
Greenfield City Council approves $163K for new radios for first responders

GREENFIELD The city’s first responders have the green light and the $163,000 they need to buy new radios to improve communications and join a statewide system.
The City Council unanimously approved the money for the digital radios Wednesday night at its monthly meeting, with councilors saying they want to see their community and its firefighters and police officers safe. The $163,000 will be provided from the city’s free cash account.
“We have an outdated system, that if we don’t do this, will cost us a lot more in the long run,” Greenfield Fire Chief Robert Strahan explained. “These radios were purchased 15 years ago.”
