Send The Assam government is waiting for the permission of the Supreme Court to initiate a fresh drive to update National Register of Citizens (NRC), Health, Education and Finance Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said on Wednesday.

The state NRC Coordinator has already submitted a very good affidavit in the Gauhati High Court highlighting why we need a fresh update of the NRC, the minister said at a press conference here. The updation will mainly depend on the Supreme Court permission , Sarma said.Â

New Delhi, Jan 29 : The Supreme Court on Friday issued notice on two pleas against the actions of the new NRC-Assam State Coordinator Hitesh Dev Sarma, for reviewing and deleting names from the already finalised National Register of Citizens (NRC) for Assam.
Jamiat Ulema e Hind and All Assam Minorities Students Union (AAMSU) had moved the Apex court challenging the circular issued by Sarma in October last year, which directed identification and deletion of names from the finalised NRC, Assam. Though, the petitioners had initially filed contempt petitions Sarma, in the previous hearing the Top court had asked amendment to the petitions by removing the prayer for initiating contempt.

Gurugram, Jan 23 : In order to ensure corruption-free functioning of Resident Welfare Associations (RWAs) in Gurugram, Badshahpur MLA Rakesh Daulatabad will soon move amendments in the Haryana Registration and Regulation of Societies Act through a private member s Bill in the state Assembly.
This was shared by the MLA who is also chairman of Haryana Agro Industries Corporation, during a press meet in Gurugram on Saturday. Daulatabad said that at present there are more than 5,000 RWAs in Gurugram district itself.
