An eatery taking pride of place on the main street of Mirani has shut at short notice to prepare for new ownership.
Elizabeth and David Page, the former owners of The Pioneer Valley Diner at 18 Alexandra Street, advised of the change in a post to Facebook.
“Liz, David and the family would like to advise the sale of the diner is final,” the post stated.
“We thank you all for your support and loyalty over the past 23 years.
“Without you, we could not have managed to successfully trade for such a long term.
“We would like to introduce Tamae, Ricky, Tuka and Helen and families as (the) new owners of the diner.

More than six months after the Mackay Regional Council signed off on the deal, the Department of State Development, Manufacturing, Infrastructure and Planning has approved a plan to convert 25sq m of the Seaforth Community Hall into a pharmacy. Calen-based Vivid Horizons, which also owns Calen District Pharmacy, secured the tender for the operation that will pay about $7000 annually to Mackay Regional Council. Seaforth hall hire bookings have declined in recent years with the annual income being approximately $1700 and the annual maintenance costs being approximately $30,000, the MRC s September 2020 ordinary meeting agenda stated.

Subscriber only A Mackay takeaway shop has recorded its âbusiest everâ Good Friday in 10 years â serving up more than 800 orders to the hungry masses.
Vellaâs Fish Bar on Sydney Street sold 1480 pieces of fish, 465 kgs of chips, 760 potato scallops and 280 prawn cutlets on Friday as a line of hungry customers snaked out the door and down the street.
Owner Judith Fenech said staff were smashed with orders from 10.30am to 8pm.
The shop was so buzzing with customers and orders that it even blew a fuse.
âA fuse in a power pole blew about 7pm and we had to call Ergon,â Ms Fenech said.
When Matt Preston put the call out for Mackayâs best pizza joint the region answered and the votes flooded in.

Sorbellos was voted as having the best pizzas in Mackay.
