Prophet Shepherd Bushiri has said the church in Malawi should not just take a leading role in preaching the message of hope to the nation, but it should also contribute to the needs of the people affected by COVID-19.
Bushiri made the statement on Wednesday afternoon while announcing Online Inter-Christian Faith Prayers for Malawi slated for Thursday evening from 7 to 8pm and will be LIVE on all local television stations.
The Enlightened Christian Gathering (ECG) leader who is leading the team of church leaders in these prayers underlined that Malawi is experiencing a scourge on the conscious of humanity and its colossal effect is so vast to be handled by those in power alone.

Prophet Shepherd Bushiri is leading a team of men and women of God who, from 7pm to 8pm today, will lead the nation in an hour of prayers, dubbed Online Inter-Christian Faith Prayers for Malawi.

According to a statement signed by Prophet Bushiri on behalf the team, the prayers will be live on all local television stations.
“With continued devastating effect of COVID-19, we want, as the church, to hold hands and kneel before God, seeking his healing mercies on the nation.
“We also want, during these prayers, to underline our resolve, as a church, to help government in ensuring that all COVID-19 preventive regulations are being adhered to,” said Bushiri.

Bishop Chanda Musa of the Pentecostal Assemblies of God Church laments that it is unfair that politicians who should be preparing the future of young people are responsible for ruining it.
