District goes into lockdown
KANCHANABURI: The border district of Sangkhla Buri has been locked down for 14 days and people ordered to stay home from 10pm to 4am, to curb an outbreak of Covid-19.
Governor Jirakiat Phumsawat, in his capacity as chairman of the provincial communicable disease control committee, signed the order, which became effective yesterday.
The order locks down Sangkhla Buri district and prohibits the transport of all kinds of goods through the Phra Chedi Sam Ong (Three Pagodas Pass) checkpoint in tambon Nong Lu until July 22.
Businesses that signed contracts for the purchase or transport of goods before the order was issued are reportedly exempted.

KANCHANABURI: Soldiers arrested 11 illegal migrants from Myanmar on the shore of the Vajiralongkorn Dam reservoir in Sangkhlaburi district in the small hours of Tuesday.
A patrol from the Lat Ya Task Force lay in wait on the bank of the reservoir in Khao Daeng area in tambon Pang Phle after informants reported that illegal migrants would arrive there by boat.
About 1.30am a long-tail boat arrived. After the passengers and boat operator stepped ashore the soldiers emerged from hiding and arrested them.
