Commissioners discuss admin matters Darke County Media photo GREENVILLE The Darke County Board of Commissioners met Monday afternoon to primarily address administrative reorganizing leading into 2021. Commissioners Matt Aultman, Mike Stegall, and Larry Holmes were all present. To begin the meeting, the commissioners voted on leadership positions. Matt Aultman was selected to be chairman of the Board, and Mike Stegall was selected as vice chairman. The newly elected commissioner, Larry Holmes, remains a voting member. These positions are typically selected in accordance with seniority. Robin Blinn was reappointed to the position of administrative clerk/secretary, and Charity Hutt was reappointed assistant clerk/secretary. All of the commissioners thanked Blinn and Hutt for their exemplary work at the office.

Martin, 33, of Greenville, was sentenced to 12 months incarceration with the ODRC, with 87 days credited, for a previous conviction for assaulting a peace officer, a fourth-degree felony. Upon his release, Martin faces an optional three-year period of post-release control. Lucas J. Hammaker, 27, of Greenville, pleaded guilty to one count of assault, a first-degree misdemeanor. This charge was amended from domestic violence, a first-degree misdemeanor, as part of a plea agreement. He faces a maximum prison sentence of 6 months, and a maximum fine of $1,000, neither of which are mandatory. Hammaker was represented in court by David Rohrer and is currently out on an OR bond.

Court hears burglary, probation violation charges Merideth GREENVILLE Four people appeared in Darke County Common Pleas Court between Tuesday and Wednesday. Judge Jonathan P. Hein presided. John M. Merideth, 41, of Greenville, appeared in court to be arraigned on one count of aggravated burglary, a first-degree felony, and one count of felonious assault, a second-degree felony. If convicted, he faces a maximum prison sentence of 19 to 24 and a half years, and a maximum fine of $35,000. Merideth retained his previous lawyer and pleaded not guilty to the charges. His bond was set at $25,000 cash, surety, or property, and his next appearance is scheduled for Jan. 13.

Nathaniel Kubik | Darke County Media GREENVILLE Jeff Subler, Vice President of Support Services at Wayne HealthCare, was recognized by the Ohio Society for Health Care Facilities Management (OSHFM), a professional society of the Ohio Hospital Association (OHA), last Wednesday. Subler was presented with OSHFM’s 2020 Eagle Award. The Eagle Award recognizes a facility manager who has demonstrated outstanding performance and leadership, and has made significant contributions in energy efficiency, health care engineering, or facilities management. Unlike past years, Subler is the only recipient of the 2020 Eagle Award.
