Queensland will NOT offer AstraZeneca jabs in mass-vaccination hubs

Queensland will not set up a mass vaccination hub to administer the AstraZeneca Covid-19 vaccine to over 50s, the state government has announced.
Instead the state will wait until more Pfizer doses are delivered towards the end of the year before considering hubs similar to those in New South Wales and Victoria.
AstraZeneca doses are still being administered in Queensland via GPs to people over 50.
Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk said planning was under way for a mass hub towards the end of the year.
Queensland is a big state, it is so decentralised, that so much planning is happening at the moment for that final quarter of the year, when we have more supply in Pfizer, Moderna it is going to ramp up, she said. ....

Australia falls short 3 MILLION doses of AstraZeneca Covid-19 vaccine, authorities point finger at EU

Australia is struggling to meet its Covid-19 vaccination targets, in part due to red tape involved with importing doses of the drug. Government officials have blamed Brussels for the shortfall.
Canberra is still waiting for more than 3 million doses of AstraZeneca’s jab that were supposed to be delivered from abroad. Speaking with Sky News on Tuesday, Acting Chief Medical Officer Michael Kidd said that the shortage was the result of
“problems with shipments that we’ve seen happening here and in other parts of the world.”
The government had planned to administer at least 4 million first doses of the drug by the end of March, but were only able to vaccinate around 840,000 people.  ....
