Ponce issued Executive Order No. 1 on Jan. 4 exempting bikers from the use of face shields after the Municipal Council of Pateros passed Ordinance 2020-25 on the mandatory use of face shields while in public places as “protection against the Coronavirus disease.”
The ordinance was prompted by the study and recommendation from the health services and Inter-Agency Task Force on the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases (IATF-EID).
The mayor said, “With the suspension of mass transportation as part of precaution under different Quarantine Classifications the use of bicycle has become prevalent as an alternative mode of transportation in going to work and in doing errands.”

Cavite 5th district Representative Dahlia Loyola, Mayor Roy Loyola, Vice Mayor Cesar Ines, Jr., town council members, and Barangay Bancal captain Jeff Levardo handed the cash incentives to two male residents who turned 90 years old.
“Nakakatuwang makita na malakas at malusog ang ating mga lolo sa kabila ng pandemya (It’s great to see that our grandfathers are strong and healthy despite the pandemic), Mayor Loyola said in a Facebook post.
The program is in accordance with Municipal Ordinance 12-2019, which aims to boost gross domestic happiness in all sectors, including senior citizens. A nonagenarian has to be a Carmona resident for 15 consecutive years to qualify for the cash incentive.

Up to the last moment of his life, assassinated Los Baños Mayor Caesar P. Perez knew he was well-loved by common folks.
He didn’t seem security-conscious as the constant outpouring of love from his constituents who admired him as a devoted public servant gave him the confidence that no one wished him harm.
The outpouring of love was more evident in the aftermath of his untimely death on Dec. 3 when unidentified gunmen pounced on him at the back of the municipal hall, in the very place where he used to meet his constituents and act on their concerns.
