59 in Meath, 42 in Louth, 33 in Kildare and the remaining 278 cases are spread across all other counties.

As of 8am today, 899 COVID-19 patients are hospitalised, of whom 160 are in ICU.
An additional 34 hospitalisations have been reported in the past 24 hours.
A member of NPHET says it ll be well into March until there s a substantial reduction in the Covid-19 figures.

The South Tama County School Board met in person for the first time this school year. Meetings have been taking place over Google Meets due to the pandemic. Four of the five members including Alan Kline, Mandy Lekin, Penny Tyynismaa and Clint Werner along with Superintendent Jared Smith gathered at the Partnership Center gym. Ron Houghton joined the meeting online.

The sale of South Tama school property was approved at Monday’s school board meeting. Following a public hearing at the beginning of the board’s regular meeting on Feb. 1, the South Tama County School Board approved the sale of the former South Tama Primary building lot to Chicago-based developer National Retail Development, LLC for $50,000.

The sale of school property and a potential new business is on the horizon for South Tama Schools and the City of Tama.
A proposal to purchase the lot at 806 State Street for $50,000 has been received from National Retail Development, LLC, a Chicago-based developer.
School board president, Penny Tyynismaa indicated during Monday’s regular school board meeting that, pending the sale, the intended use of the lot would be to construct a new Family Dollar retail store.
Following a brief discussion, the board voted 5-0 to set a public hearing on Monday, Feb 1 for the sale of the school property. The hearing will provide an opportunity for community members to express their approval or displeasure in the property sale.
