The decrease in Henderson County gas prices wasnât big on on Monday, but at least it was pointed in the right direction for motorists who want to take advantage of the waning summer vacation season.
The average price for a gallon of unleaded in Henderson County, on Monday, was $2.88.2. Thatâs a slight drop from $2.90 on July 1,according to GasBuddy data compiled from more than 11 million individual price reports taken from 150,000 gas stations across the country.
The national average on Monday, was $3.14 per gallon.

Athens gas prices climbed another 20 cents over the past month as national costs are headed for their highest mark in over six years, according to the Monday report from GasBuddy.com.
âWe indeed may see some weeks with new records as Americans get in their cars this summer â but the question is how many will do so?â said

Lowest Athens price for a gallon of regular, on Monday were $2.73 at both Brookshireâs and Murphy USA on East Tyler Street. The cost at each location was $2.52 on April 12.

ATHENS, Texas (KLTV) - On Monday, a pedestrian was struck and died in the 400 block of South Palestine Street, (State Highway 19).
At approximately 7:20 p.m., a 911 call was received advising a pedestrian had been struck by a vehicle.
According to witness statements and evidence collected at the scene, investigators determined that a 2009 Ford SUV was traveling southbound in the 400 block of South Palestine Street, in the center left-turn lane, attempting to turn left into a private drive. A pedestrian, later identified as Teresa A. Fawcette, 60, of Athens, was attempting to cross the roadway when struck by the vehicle. She died at the scene as a result of her injuries. The driver of the vehicle was not injured.
