The city of Kodiak has started the process of potentially selling a plot of land adjacent to Fort Abercrombie State Historical Park to the state of Alaska.Â
The Kodiak City Council adopted a resolution last week to move forward with an application for funds necessary to sell a 77.55-acre parcel to the state.
The land stretches from Abercrombie Drive to Otmeloi Way on both sides of Monashka Road. The site includes a subunit north of Monashka Bay Road known locally as the Ram Site.Â
The land â currently valued at $3.7 million, according to the Kodiak Island Borough website â was issued to the city by the U.S. Department of the Interiorâs Bureau of Land Management in 1962.Â
