Max Duckwiler dropped in 26 points Wednesday night to lift Friendship Christian’s boys past visiting Ezell-Harding 75-56 in a makeup District 4-IIA game at the Bay Family Sportsplex.
Ducxkwiler’s total included five 3-pointers and 7-of-8 free throws as the Commanders climbed to 4-3 for the season and 2-0 in the district going into today’s matinee against visiting Donelson Christian.
Ezell-Harding led for much of the first quarter until Casey Jones sank a triple from the wing to put the Commanders in front 11-9.
Riggs Rowe’s putback in the final seconds made it 13-9 going into the second quarter. ....

In the only games in town, Friendship falls to MTCS


With Wilson County Schools imposing a moratorium on athletic competition during the holidays, the only games in town are being played at Friendship Christian’s Bay Family Sportsplex.
And with Gov. Lee’s edict permitting only players, coaches, game personnel and household family members in attendance, a limited number of spectators were on hand Tuesday night to see the Commanders fall to Middle Tennessee Christian 56-45 and the Lady Commanders go down 57-15.
The Cougars, coached by FCS-graduate and former Commander coach Jason Piercey, led 13-4 following the first quarter, 23-19 at halftime and 41-35 through three as MTCS improved to 6-3 while Friendship fell to 3-3. ....

Purple Tigers rally past short-handed Central


WATERTOWN — Neither team was at full strength, but Watertown closed out a 65-62 win over Wilson Central on the power play Saturday afternoon.
Only seven Wildcats were available for the game and three were fouled out, leaving just four on the floor for the final 25.6 seconds as Watertown rallied.
Gavin Clayborne connected on two free throws with 20.6 seconds left to put Watertown in front 63-62 and two more for insurance with 11.8 ticks as the Purple Tigers, playing for the first time in eight days since their first loss of the season, at DeKalb County, before having two rescheduled games canceled during the week due to COVID, improved to 7-1 going into a two-week Wilson County Schools-mandated break from competition. ....
