Murfreesboro, TN - The First Annual Rutherford County Tournament of High School Chess Champions took place Saturday (4/20/2024) at the Patterson Community Center.
When the tournament ended, each contestant was presented a holographic trophy. The grand champion was awarded the GOLDEN CHESS TIE. In golf, the Masters Tournament gives a green blazer, and the GOLD TIE is the local counterpart.

Murfreesboro, TN - Eight Rutherford County high schools have entered their champions to play this Saturday morning (4/20/2024) in the inaugural Contest of High School Chess Champions at Patterson Park Community Center (521 Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Blvd., Murfresboro).
Participants will register at 8:30AM, followed by pairings, introductions and welcome at 8:45AM. The games begin promptly at 9:00AM.

The Spain Park Jaguars kept themselves plenty busy during spring break as they played six games in four days at the Buccaneer Classic from March 27-30 in their hometown of Hoover, but they made the most of their packed schedule and walked away with five victories.
