Douglass Leadership House to undergo operational, physical changes

With a new support and operational structure, the Douglass Leadership House will become the University s first living-learning community, designed to allow members of the house to offer academic, social, and housing options through partnerships with several University curricular and cocurricular units. The house will become a “living-learning community” with an umbrella of support across the College and institution-wide units, including the Frederick Douglass Institute.
Operational changes and physical improvements are coming to the University of Rochester’s Douglass Leadership House.
Jeffrey Runner, dean of the College, says these formalized partnerships will provide a stronger, more effective infrastructure for the house and its program. ....

Leon Harvey is a graduate student, McNair Scholar, and researcher studying Biochemistry at UR.
In 2018, Harvey graduated from Monroe Community College with an Associate Degree in Biology and later graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree from UR.
“Ever since I took my first general biology course, I have enjoyed learning about the various molecular processes that occur in organisms,” Harvey said. “As I began taking courses such as biochemistry and molecular biology, the intricately beautiful biological mechanisms continued to fascinate me more and more.” ....

A couple weeks ago, a majority of Students’ Association (SA) Senators resigned, citing as one reason among many that SA Government impedes student activism.
I’ve heard a variety of responses to this. Many praised the former senators for making their voices heard, while others (according to a poll on the UR Confessions Instagram) thought that the senators may have resigned for clout. ....
