I’ve run a business for 30 years. I’ve never been in this position before and it’s humbling to have to rob Peter to pay Paul to figure out how you’re going to pay all the bills.

Proposed emissions-reduction target doesn t go far enough for Stratford councillors

Article content Stratford council sent a proposed 10 per cent emissions-reduction target for the year 2030 back to staff and its advisory committee for further research after several councillors said it didn’t go far enough to meeting the city’s goal of net-zero emissions by 2050. After Perth County climate-change co-ordinator Rebecca Garlick outlined Stratford’s emission profile, based on 2017 greenhouse-gas emissions from all buildings, transportation and waste in the city, staff proposed the 10 per cent target – roughly 80,000 tonnes of CO2 – below those levels by the year 2030. That goal, said Garlick and city staff, would meet Stratford’s reduction targets and help direct future climate-action programs for the city.
