Wilton Springs drew crowds of picnickers from all the neighboring counties. There was rarely a day during picnic weather that groups didnt descend on Wilton Springs for a days outing. Local boys took advantage of this fact to set up concession stands to make spending money.

CENTRAL, La. (WAFB) - Several churches are opening up their facilities Tuesday, Feb. 16 so Baton Rouge area residents who are without power in the bitter cold can get warm and have a hot cup of coffee, according to the Central Police Department and Central City Councilman Wade Evans.
PLEASE NOTE: These church facilities are not currently being opened as shelters. Councilman Evans says the pastors of the three churches in Central have agreed to open the doors of their gyms so people can warm up for a few hours.

BATON ROUGE, La. (WAFB) - The two cold weather shelters in the city of Baton Rouge are currently full.
And, one of the phone numbers the mayor’s office has told people to call for shelters has a voicemail message saying the office is closed.
The director St. Vincent de Paul, one of two shelters that were accepting people, says his agency is currently working to figure out a solution for housing more people. 120 people are staying there currently and they are full. However, he says they will continue working to find solutions for people who show up seeking shelter.
