In his previous 49 starts, Spencer Turnbull had never exceeded seven innings.
On Tuesday, the Detroit Tigers right-hander took his no-hitter into the ninth, fought through a lead-off walk, got two outs and then as he put it made his last three pitches of the game the best three pitches of the game. He struck out Mitch Haniger to set in motion a late-night celebration.

Through 34 games this season, Candelario has a .289 batting average, three home runs, 12 RBIs, 13 walks and 35 strikeouts. Despite a recent team-wide slump, Candelario has been the Tigers most reliable player at the plate.
Candelario owns 11 multi-hit games, including five three-hit games. Of those three-hit performances, three have come in May. He is 11-for-28 (.393) with two homers and five RBIs in seven contests this month.
Taking over for Candelario, third base is the seventh position Castro has played this season. He is becoming a regular in the lineup, earning the No. 2 spot in the batting order while going 13-for-43 (.302) in 19 games.
Castro has appeared at first base (10 games), second base (five), left field (two), center field (one), shortstop (one) and even an inning on the mound, posting a scoreless inning April 5 against the Minnesota Twins.

When Mario Feliciano made his major league debut last weekend, it was unlikely for a number of reasons. That’s not to say that Feliciano is a nobody: The hard-hitting catcher was the MVP of the Carolina League in 2019 and has been highly ranked by multiple outlets for some time now. But prior to the 2021 season, he had barely played above A-ball, having spent most of 2019 as a member of the Carolina Mudcats, then a high-A affiliate of the Brewers, before earning a late-season promotion to the Double-A Biloxi Shuckers, where he played in only three games. But when Omar Narváez was placed on the injured list on May 1, Feliciano was called up from the Brewers’ alternate site to replace the ailing backup catcher on the roster, though his call-up seemed unlikely to lead to playing time, barring unforeseen circumstances.
