BATON ROUGE – Now that the lights are back on in Hollywood South studios, the need for crew to work on set has grown.
“I love the fact that it s really busy right now. I get called a lot. I kind of do commercials, music videos and docuseries, and I m still getting called for the feature films because they need people,” said Mason McGuire, who has been working as a gaffer on sets for almost 20 years.

As the Louisiana legislature is trying to revamp and revive the television and film industry in the state, it s good to know that some really cool productions are moving forward, and one of them is right down I-10 in Baton Rouge.
The state legislature is moving forward with a tax credits bill that could sweeten the pot for production companies who will hire local and state help to film in Louisiana, and evidently, the folks at Disney were paying attention. According to the Louisiana Office of Economic Development, a new Disney + movie is in the works, with an estimated budget of $40 million. The project is expected to employ hundreds of Louisiana residents, and production plans call for 325 crew members and 400 extras.

Disney picks Baton Rouge for filming of space adventure film
Production will begin soon in Baton Rouge on a live-action feature film for Disney+. The futuristic teen adventure, titled
Crater, will be filmed at Celtic Studios and on location throughout the capital region, with an estimated budget of $40 million. The project is expected to employ hundreds of Louisiana residents; production plans call for 325 crew members and 400 extras.
Crater is described as a coming-of-age story about a boy growing up on a lunar colony who takes a trip to explore a mysterious crater with his four best friends. Kyle Patrick Alvarez will direct the film with Shawn Levy and Dan Levine producing through their 21 Laps Entertainment banner.
