February 23, 2021 Dewey commissioners to hold workshop  Dewey Beach commissioners will hold a virtual workshop at 12 p.m., Friday, Feb. 26 to discuss possible rules for the bay beach and Baywalk. Sussex P&Z puts Feb. 25 meeting on schedule Due to inclement weather, the Feb. 18 Sussex County Planning and Zoning Commission meeting was canceled. Public hearings on the agenda will be rescheduled. The commission, which was not scheduled to meet Thursday, Feb. 25, has set a meeting for that date to take care of old business and other items from the previous agenda. The meeting will take place at 5 p.m. in the Sussex County administration building. February 19, 2021 Cape May-Lewes Ferry updates travel restrictions The Cape May-Lewes Ferry will allow bicyclists and foot passengers again with capacity restrictions, starting Monday, Feb. 22. According to a Feb. 18 press release, all bicyclists and foot passengers must have a reservation, are required to check in at the ticket counter prior to boarding, and must arrive at least 45 minutes before departure time. The passenger salon aboard the vessels will also be open; however, inside seating capacity is currently limited to about 20 percent. Passengers must wear face masks and stay socially distanced from anyone not in their traveling party. They are urged to pay attention to onboard directional signage to help control the flow of traffic on the vessel. Masks are required in the terminals, on board the vessels, and in outdoor areas while on terminal grounds. Exterior seating is open to all passengers. February 16, 2021 Rehoboth budget discussion set Feb. 19 Rehoboth Beach commissioners will resume budget discussions during a special meeting at 9 a.m., Friday, Feb. 19. This will be their fourth budget meeting. City Manager Sharon Lynn has proposed a $27.7 million budget for next fiscal year, which begins April 1. The proposed budget includes approximately $4.9 million in capital improvements. February 12, 2021 Milton planners to meet Feb. 16 Milton Planning and Zoning Commission will meet at 6:30 p.m., Tuesday, Feb. 16, at Grace Church, to discuss and possibly vote on a special permitted use for a cellphone tower at the town’s public works lot on Front Street. Applicant Cellco Partnership is requesting the special use to put up a 140-foot tower at 210 Front St. The special permitted use is required because the tower would be located in an R-1 residential zoning district.  The committee will also discuss and review a possible advisory report on a proposed amendment to the zoning code on the discontinuance of a nonconforming use.
