Statistics indicate that at least 16 security force members have been killed and 14 more wounded as a result of Taliban attacks in the past 24 hours.

Bomber held in Nangarhar before reaching target

21 Apr 2021 - 14:59 JALALABAD (Pajhwok): A suicide bomber who wanted to attack a mosque in eastern Nangarhar has been captured by National Directorate of Security (NDS) forces, a statement said on Wednesday. The Nangarhar provincial media office in a statement said Ahmad, a resident of Pakistan’s Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, intended to carry out a suicide attack. The alleged bomber had received training in Lawarkai Madrasa and planned to conduct a suicide attack in a mosque in Shinwari district. But he was captured in limits of seventh Jalalabad police district before reaching his target, the statement said. The statement also said NDS personnel arrested a fraudster named IjazulHaq who had taken 22,000 afs from an entity using fake identity.

In Kandahar province, the security situation was calm compared to last week but sporadic armed clashes were reported. IED clearance started in Arghandab district and 1,919 devices were defused in Bobar, Tabin, Barat Qalacha and Nagahan villages. Despite ongoing IED clearing operations, four civilians were injured by detonations in three different incidents during the reporting period. The threat of IEDs resulted in the temporary closure of three health facilities in Arghandab district.
