South: Intense fighting resulted in civilian casualties
Fighting between Afghan National Security Forces (ANSF) and a non-state armed group (NSAG) continued with reported airstrikes and improvised explosive devices (IEDs) detonations in Hilmand and Kandahar provinces.
In Kandahar province, fighting was reported in Arghandab, Panjwayi and Zheray and some parts of Maywand districts. On 27 February, Nakhoni Basic Health Facility was closed due to ongoing fighting in Panjwayi district, Kandahar province depriving approximately 20,000 people of access to basic health services. Negotiations are ongoing to reopen the facility. On 21 February, 14 civilians including women and children were wounded by an IED detonation in Police District 7 in capital of Kandahar province.
South: Fighting intensified, 1,660 IDPs received humanitarian assistance
Fighting between Afghan National Security Forces (ANSF) and a non-state armed group (NSAG) continued in Hilmand, Kandahar and Uruzgan provinces.
In Kandahar province, fighting was reported in Arghandab, Panjwayi and some parts of Maywand and Dand districts. According to government officials, 800 families (approximately 5,600 people) were displaced by fighting in Arghandab district in the past month. The Operational Coordination Team in Kandahar is working with local authorities to assess the needs of the internally displaced persons (IDPs).
In Uruzgan province, clashes between ANSF and an NSAG intensified in Dehrawud, Gizab and Tirinkot districts. Nangarhar, [Afghanistan], February 2 (ANI): At least one border police officer was killed and two more were injured in an explosion in the eastern province of Nangarhar on Tuesday, TOLO News reported citing local officials.
According to the officials, the explosion took place in Surkh Rod district when a police vehicle was hit by an improvised explosive device (IED).
No group including the Taliban has yet claimed responsibility for the blast. (ANI)

Border Police Member Killed, 2 Wounded In Nangarhar Blast
At least one border police officer was killed and two more were wounded in an explosion in the eastern province of Nangarhar on Tuesday morning, local officials said.
The explosion occurred in Surkh Rod district when a police vehicle was hit by an IED, according to the officials.
The officials did not provide further details about the blast.
No group including the Taliban has yet claimed responsibility for the blast.

JALALABAD, Afghanistan, Jan. 28 (Xinhua) Three policemen were injured as a blast struck a police vehicle in the Surkh Rod district of the eastern Nangarhar province on Thursday, provincial police spokesman Farid Khan said.
The blast took place at around 11:00 a.m. local time, he said.
Targeted killing mostly in the form of blasts including those of magnetic bombs has been on the rise in Afghanistan s big cities including the capital city of Kabul.
Similar targeted explosions killed three people including two policemen and injured 11 others including 10 civilians in the Uruzgan province, and injured two policemen in the capital city Kabul on Wednesday.
