Boulder community group wants to start childcare program

Boulder community group wants to start childcare program By: Jonathon Ambarian and last updated 2021-07-29 12:30:00-04 BOULDER — Families across Montana have been talking about the need for stable childcare options, especially since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic. Now, people in the community of Boulder are stepping up to address that need themselves. Boulder hasn’t had a licensed childcare facility for three years. That’s had a real impact on people like Devyn Ottman, a teacher at Boulder Elementary School. She and her husband have three children, and they had to have eight different people look after their daughter just during a regular school year.

CR parents proposing athletic facility upgrades

Some parents and boosters in the Chestnut Ridge School District are asking school officials to consider upgrading the district’s athletic facilities. A group representing the Chestnut Ridge Touchdown Club football booster club briefly spoke to the district school board at its meeting Tuesday night about their hopes for larger weight room, as well as new facilities and turf for the football field. “We’re behind the times,” said Jamie Ickes, who spoke on behalf of the group. Ickes said the group’s top priority is a bigger weight room for student athletes, saying the current room is not large enough to accommodate more than about a dozen students at a time.
