COVID: 29 new cases in Upper Thumb

There were 29 more coronavirus cases reported in the Upper Thumb by the state May 7.
State data showed Huron County had an increase of nine new cases, bringing the county to 2,995 confirmed cases and 69 deaths.
Tuscola County had an increase of 13 cases, bringing the county to 4,770 confirmed cases and 153 deaths.
Sanilac County had an increase of seven cases, bringing the county to 3,655 confirmed cases and 100 deaths.
Statewide testing data showed an average test positivity rate of 8.7% on May 6.
Huron County remained above state average with a 15.2% positivity rate, up slightly from the day prior. The positivity rate was based on 10 positive tests out of 66 processed.

The Sanilac County Historical Society is inviting residents to take in an afternoon of military history stretching from the American Revolution to the present day.
The Military History Timeline event will take place from noon to 4 p.m. on May 29 at the Sanilac County Historic Village in Port Sanilac.

CASEVILLE, MI - It celebrates cheeseburgers, loves ribs and is home to some of most beautiful beaches in Michigan.
It’s Caseville, and it’s the winner of Michigan’s Best Vacation Spot in Bay City & Thumb area of Michigan by MLive readers.
Known for the annual Cheeseburger in Caseville Festival each August, the tiny town of about 700 people received 22.54 percent of the vote, beating nearby Port Austin by only four votes. Bay City finished in third, but only nine votes off the top spot.
