Written by Chance Bond on January 26, 2021 Worland Wrestling finished with a sweep in Lander on Saturday. The number three ranked Wyoming 3A Warriors have won eleven of their last twelve matches. The one loss was to the number one ranked 4A wrestling team in Wyoming. The Sheridan Broncs. The Warriors have eleven ranked wrestlers in Wyoming 3A out of the fourteen weight classes. Only 3A number one ranked Star Valley has more. The Braves have ranked wrestlers in all fourteen weight classes. Two of Worland’s wrestlers are ranked number one in their weight class. Luke Goncalves at 170 pounds and Lane McBee at the 195 weight class. McBee is also certified at the 182 pound weight class. ....
Written by Mac Morey on January 12, 2021 The Cody Broncs and Fillies hosted the Worland Warriors on Tuesday, January 12th in what ended up as a nail biter win for the Fillies and a prideful loss for the Broncs. The Fillies faced an 11 point deficit at halftime which was as much as 12 vs. the Lady Warriors but it wasn’t because of bad shots, just not the best execution. That got turned around in the second half as they were able to start the comeback in the 3rd reducing the deficit down to seven. The 4th quarter for the fillies is when things clicked on all cylinders as they put up 16 points in just the 4th quarter. They had 21 points in the first three quarters of play. ....
Written by Mac Morey on January 9, 2021 The Fillies and Broncs traveled to Lovell Saturday night for a varsity double header where both teams were able to win in convincing fashion. The Fillies won 50-22 while the Cody Broncs were able to capture the first victory of their season winning 55-41. In the Fillies matchup they showcased their ability to play at their own pace and keep the possession arrow in their favor with over 10 offensive rebounds The first quarter started with Fillies swarming the ball on defense and shooting efficiently on offense scoring 14 points and only allowing three on defense. ....
Written by Cole Havens on December 30, 2020 It’s been quite the journey for Jonny Williams. Last summer Williams suffered an off-season weight lifting accident which took months to recover from. Williams would be cleared for football activities at the start of August and was cleared to play in his first game three weeks into the season. Williams is now a state champion and was voted to the second team of the Casper Star-Tribune Super 25, recognizing him as one of the top 50 players in the state of Wyoming. Williams was an anchor on both the offensive and defensive lines for Cody Bronc football and talks about receiving such an honor. ....
