The Warriors scored 165.5 points at The Wyoming 3A State Wrestling Championships at the Ford Wyoming Center in Casper, Wyoming on Friday. Star Valley finished first for the sixth straight year. The Douglas Bearcats finished in second 36.8 points ahead of Worland. Kobe Swain Junior at the 113 pound weight class finished sixth. The weight class was won by three time State Champion from Lyman. Junior, Sefton Douglass. Finishing fourth at the 120 pound weight class Sophomore Ross Goncalves. The weight class was won by Waylon Nelson Senior from Star Valley. ....
Written by Chance Bond on February 2, 2021 Worland would host Campbell County, Thunder Basin, Star Valley, and Cody last Friday. Wyoming Wrestling would see top contest outside the Ron Thon this season. Wyoming Wrestling 4A schools and three of the top 3A schools would meet on the mat. The Thunder Basin Bolts are ranked second in 4A behind the Sheridan Broncs. Star Valley is Wyoming 3A’s top ranked team and the Worland Warrior Wrestlers are ranked third in Wyoming 3A Wrestling. Campbell County would be first up for the Warriors. Koby Tigner and Kein Anderson would lose their matches. Anderson to the 4th ranked 4A wrestler in Lucas Hill. The biggest surprise was Luke Goncalves being stuck by an unranked Nathan Harper. Worland would win the dual 63-18. ....
Written by Chance Bond on January 26, 2021 Worland Wrestling finished with a sweep in Lander on Saturday. The number three ranked Wyoming 3A Warriors have won eleven of their last twelve matches. The one loss was to the number one ranked 4A wrestling team in Wyoming. The Sheridan Broncs. The Warriors have eleven ranked wrestlers in Wyoming 3A out of the fourteen weight classes. Only 3A number one ranked Star Valley has more. The Braves have ranked wrestlers in all fourteen weight classes. Two of Worland’s wrestlers are ranked number one in their weight class. Luke Goncalves at 170 pounds and Lane McBee at the 195 weight class. McBee is also certified at the 182 pound weight class. ....

Rock Springs and Green River were the host cities for this years Thoman-Jackman Tournament. Covid restrictions created a dual event this season. The Worland Warriors went into the tournament ranked fourth in Wyoming 3A wrestling. Day one of the duals would have Worland in Pool 4 with Rock Springs, Sheridan, and Mountain View. First up were the Rock Springs Tigers. Ranked sixth as a team in Wyoming 4A wrestling and having nine ranked wrestlers including Broc Flethcher the number one ranked 4A wrestler at 106 pounds. Fletcher would beat Anthony Martinez by fall. ....

Schedule changes and teams dropping out made for drama beyond the mat. When the dust settled and the matches began the Warriors performed, and preformed well. The opening match against Lovell would be a loss 36 to 41. Luke Goncalves, Ross Goncalves, Aaron Carver, and Lane McBee would come out with wins. Josh Rose wrestled number 3 ranked 2A Myzeck McArthur and would lose, but he wrestled well and would win plenty over the next two days. New Castle/Upton would go down 18 to 59 against Worland. The 126 pound weight class would be the featured match as the Dogies had number 6 ranked Cael Holmes face number 3 ranked Ross Goncalves. Ross would get the win by fall giving the Warriors the 6 points. ....
