Sun May 23 2021 | Matt DaSilva | College PHOTO BY NAT LEDONNE/DUKE ATHLETICS Joe Robertson scored his third overtime game-winner of the season Sunday, lifting Duke to a 10-9 NCAA quarterfinal victory over Loyola at Arlotta Stadium in South Bend, Ind. It just had to be Joe Robertson. The senior attackman with a penchant for coming up clutch in overtime did it again Sunday, spiking the ball off the turf and into the net as he fell to the ground and sending Duke back to championship weekend with a 10-9 NCAA quarterfinal win over Loyola at Arlotta Stadium in South Bend, Ind.

Duke Survives As Joe Robertson is Clutch Again, Sending Blue Devils Past Loyola

Add another chapter to the epic Duke-Loyola postseason series.  With the game tied 9-9 and about :60 remaining in the first overtime period, Duke attackman Joe Robertson gathered the ball for his team’s second OT possession. He squared up Kyle LeBlanc, a Loyola defender who’d been injured since the Hounds’ game vs. Army on April 10, turned down a screen from Michael Sowers, got topside and sold out. Falling down, he put a sidearm shot into the ground. It bounced over Loyola goalie Sam Shafer’s left shoulder as his stick head dug into the ground. “I think when the game’s on the line, that’s my favorite part,” Robertson said. “That’s what makes it exciting. That’s why athletes compete because you have a chance to lose. You’ll be more upset if you didn’t take a shot than if you miss a shot or it gets saved.”

From 2008 through 2019, the Greyhounds won 11-of-12 matchups in the series, through the one-sided nature was reflected in the final scores eight of those games were decided by two goals or fewer, including 2011’s epic four-OT matchup. It’s an important game for both programs, Jesuit universities in the Mid-Atlantic with a lot of shared DNA. Coming into this game, though, there is little question the Hoyas were favored, amassing a 10-1 record, having avenged their lone loss to the season against Denver 10 days prior. The Hounds, on the other hand, were 6-5 and playing without three starters in attackman Joey Kamish, who is done for the season due to injury, A/M Evan James, who was held out due to lingering injuries but i

We are a community of Harvest Stars

Winnipeg Free Press Posted: Sponsored by: We are a community of Harvest Stars It typically takes at least 7 volunteer actions to collect, inspect, tally, sort, pack, load, and deliver one item of donated food. Last year, Manitobans donated about 11 million pounds of food to Harvest – and Harvest Community Food Network volunteers at 325+ food banks and agencies across the province delivered it to Manitobans in need. These Harvest Stars donated 190,000 hours of their time to get that food to hungry Manitobans. It was front line service. They did it anonymously. Today, we thank and recognize every one of them.  Kyle Leblanc, Lee Newton Volunteer Excellence Award Winner.
