Marvin Orie has opted to leave the Lions after his contract with the Johannesburg franchise expired this month.
The Lions posted farewell messages to the 27-year-old, thanking him for his service since he joined them from the Bulls in 2017.
It s so far unclear where Orie s next destination is, however it s understood that he could be on the market for an overseas move.
The Cape Town-born forward started his youth rugby career at Western Province before moving to Pretoria and being part of the victorious 2013 Varsity Cup University of Pretoria Tuks team that also included Springboks Handre Pollard, Bongi Mbonambi and Courtnall Skosan.

Defender Rushine De Reuck could be set for a new role as he begins his new journey at Mamelodi Sundowns today.
De Reuck has started training at Chloorkop after signing a five-year contract with the club from Maritzburg United,
KickOff.com on Friday.
The Cape Town-born defender could be thrown into the deep end when The Brazilians host Stellenbosch in the Nedbank Cup last 32 at Loftus Stadium on Wednesday.
Despite having played as a defender for almost the whole of his professional career, De Reuck could be assigned a different role at Sundowns as a central midfielder this season.
The 25-year-old centre-back had been on Sundowns’ radar for some time. The Brazilians’ interest escalated following the untimely death of Motjeka Madisha recently, as they looked for a replacement.
Why does it matter & what s the bigger picture?
Sundowns may have decided to make a move for De Reuck after Brian Mandela Onyango and Ricardo Nascimento picked up injuries earlier this month.
Masandawana s defensive department got even thinner this week due to the suspension of Mothobi Mvala, who was played in central defence against Black Leopards on Wednesday when he was sent off.
Sundowns would be able to register De Reuck in their Caf Champions League squad as the additional player registration period has started and will end on January 31.

Cape Town â In thanking the many people who have paid tribute to his late partner and Cape Town-born entertainer Alvon Collison, Faried Swartz, in an emotional video, said he had lost the love of his life.
Collison died at his Milnerton home on Friday at the age of 79.
He had been on dialysis for the past five years and had also suffered from back pain.
In a video posted on social media, Swartz, in song, told of his dying love for Collison. He encouraged people to tell their loved ones how much they meant to them as often as they could.
