Alvon Collison’s partner in moving tribute after losing ’love of his life’ By Francesca Villette Share Cape Town – In thanking the many people who have paid tribute to his late partner and Cape Town-born entertainer Alvon Collison, Faried Swartz, in an emotional video, said he had lost the love of his life. Collison died at his Milnerton home on Friday at the age of 79. He had been on dialysis for the past five years and had also suffered from back pain. In a video posted on social media, Swartz, in song, told of his dying love for Collison. He encouraged people to tell their loved ones how much they meant to them as often as they could.

Collison had been on dialysis for the past five years and had also suffered from crippling back pain. He is survived by his partner, Faried Swartz, his sister Novla and two nieces and nephews. Collison’s career spanned five decades, which included his standout performance as the Pharaoh in the 1970s production of Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat. In 2016 he was honoured with a Naledi Lifetime Achievement Award. Collison has been a household name since breaking into showbiz in 1974, most famously known as the King of Cabaret for his award-winning performance as Pharaoh in the musical stage production of Joseph and The Technicolor Dreamcoat, says CapeTalk presenter Sara-Jayne King. Sara-Jayne King speaks to the Baxter Theatre marketing manager, Fahiem Stellenboom, who pays tribute to Alvon Collison. Stellenboom says he was lucky enough to be at the Fleur Du Cape Theatre Awards ceremony in Johannesburg.
